Jahangir’s Dream 1618-1622
This piece of art is really hilarious to me because Emperor Jahangir had the most planet-crushing ego I’ve ever seen. He is literally standing on a lion on top of the world hugging a ‘lesser’ world power who is seen on a….lamb. Oh, also he has a halo that is actually the size of the sun and angels are flying around beside it. I’m imagining him going to his commissioned artist and saying, “the halo—yes, ah—it’s…it’s pretty tiny don’t you think. I mean, in comparison to the Earth, it’s only twice it’s size. Pretty tiny.”
If Emperor Jahangir was alive today he would probably have a Gaia avatar with double glowing golden angel wings and a wolf tail and a giant light saber.
